We need to take actions to help save water and help make a difference to climate change for our future generations, environment and ecosystems.

Let’s Protect What We Love

As the planet continues to experience global warming, the effects of climate change are becoming increasingly evident. Scientists predict that this will manifest itself in the form of more frequent and intense periods of drought and flooding, the melting of glaciers, and changes in the patterns of rain and snowfall1.

New Zealand is considered water-rich when compared to global standards2, so it’s easy to see why many of us may take it for granted. However, this abundance may not be consistent throughout the year. It can vary significantly from month to month and year to year. This means that while New Zealand may have an abundance of water now, it can’t be guaranteed in the future. That’s why it’s important to be mindful of water usage and take steps to help conserve this precious resource now.

Finish Water Waste Research

We have conducted research to discover what New Zealanders think about our water and how we use it. The findings show that while many of us place water conservation as a high priority, we’re not walking the talk when it comes to our water use.

You can view the findings in our Finish Water Waste downloadable report [Here].

At Finish we want to help to improve the water literacy of our nation and help to preserve our water for future generations. We are investing in initiatives like our Finish Water Literacy Challenge in schools - helping to encourage Kiwi kids to practice smarter water habits.

#FinishWaterWaste is part of a global commitment from Finish to bring worldwide attention to the issue of water scarcity and inspire smarter water use.

We commissioned National Geographic CreativeWorks on a storytelling and media campaign to help educate Kiwis through focusing on the small town of Matakaoa. It speaks to New Zealanders’ unique connection with water, while highlighting the real impact of climate change that is already impacting smaller communities in Aotearoa.

We encourage you to take a moment to watch this and join us in conserving water.
